this is where we should really take care of.build ure team around players from the academy and only bring in foreigners who are really much better then someone that we got.like this the players grow up in our system and will love the club.

^in an ideal world that would work filara..you can build your team around academy players like poa did all these years..then sit back and blame everyone and everything when you're not lifting any trophies! of course there are exceptions such as barcelona, ajax and other legit schools of youth football, but those organizations are the real deal..they have it down to a science..that's what the sport is these days..

I laugh at academies, especially here in the US (including our very own) that give false hopes to parents and children that their kid will be scouted and will have a chance to try out for a european club...paparia mentoles..doulevoun to kosmaki

^^Fully agree, our development department (along with all clubs in Greece) is nowhere near good enough to build a CL competitive team.... Would love it if this were not the case, but reality can not be ignoted

However, the academies are one department in which we should be focusing time and money in order to improve.... Producing a CL competitive team from the youth system should be the ultimate goal.... Until we reach this goal though, we must always strive to bring in the top foreigners (in Greece)...

Speaking of:
http://www.olympiacos.org/article/37648/katektise-tannenhof-cup-i-k16-toy-thryloy

It appears to be a mutual decision.

^^He was doing a good job as well.

I am sure there will be a great replacement coming in.  The academy functioning correct and producing solid players and starters for us should be one of the highest prioritizes for the club leadership.

And it was Olympiacos who decided to part ways. There's some talk of maybe Karembue or Issa taking control.

well you guys already know how I feel about academies and how they translate to professional players on the men's team...academies are a joke..I believe our academies have an annual budget of 3-5 million euros!! that is Fen insane, especially since we have had no real results with them!!

we're spending 3-5 million/year and these kids can't even get on our practice squad..the coaches get paid well however don't produce any starters..there is no return in investement..an absolute poor business idea..

just look at our track record..what has been working for us? buying Maniati, Samari and others for 300-500,000 or spending millions per year in the unsuccessful model called ''academy''?

Our academy player Niko Ioannidis who was loaned out to Hansa Rostock last season will continue  at Borussia Dortmund. Olympiacos have come  to an agreement with  the Germans for co - ownership of the player .
Dortmund have inserted a buy out clause  for 2 years. If they activate this clause within 2 years  they have to pay Olympiacos a fixed fee to acquire  him. After 2 years the player returns to Olympiacos.

The club has officially announced the hiring of Theodore Eleftheriadis  to the position of technical director of the academies -

It appears to be a mutual decision.

The term "mutual decision" is usually used by the team in a press release when the truth was things went sideways for whatever reasons. Usually the player/coach wanted out but the organization does'nt want the fans/public knowing this. I know this from my boys days of playing Junior hockey here in Canada.
